The Power of Water

Director & PhotoGrapher: Luuk Steenbeeke

The moment you step into the water, the tension begins to ease. Your aches fade, your muscles loosen, and your body moves more freely. You feel lighter, more comfortable. And a little younger at heart.

I wanted to capture that moment when you step into the water and everything feels lighter. The tension fades, your body moves freely, and you feel younger, freer, more at ease.

Together with my sister, who shares my love for water, I created a photo installation that brings this feeling to life. We spent an evening shooting in the swimming pool where we’ve both grown up, our mother’s swim school, Spetter Zwemopleidingen Burdaard.

Through the gentle movement of fabric and the play of light underwater, we tried to show the magic of water, its power to heal, to comfort, and to renew.

The photographs were exhibited in large formats (A0, A1 and a2) at St. Joost School of Art & Design in Breda, where they invited viewers to experience the calm and healing force of water on an immersive scale.
